The Challenge
The brief required the creation of three channel dividers for a chosen television network. I selected SYFY for its strong visual language rooted in science fiction, horror, and fantasy. The challenge was to reinterpret the channel’s identity in motion, capturing its energy while introducing a distinct visual approach.
The Approach
Drawing from SYFY’s legacy of retro-futuristic aesthetics and early tech-inspired visuals, I developed three motion pieces built around layered textures, digital noise, and grunge-infused graphics. Bright brand colors were combined with distorted typography, horror references, and fragmented technical overlays. The goal was to evoke the raw, atmospheric quality of older SYFY dividers while maintaining a contemporary rhythm in motion. Each divider explores pacing, tension, and visual density to create short-form transitions that feel immersive and unmistakably genre-driven.

The Application
The designs were developed as three standalone motion sequences, each functioning as a channel divider between programming segments. The system demonstrates adaptability while maintaining visual coherence across variations.
The Outcome
This project strengthened my understanding of broadcast motion design, including timing, rhythm, and the importance of visual clarity within short-duration formats. It deepened my research process in motion branding and reinforced how identity systems must translate fluidly across time-based media.
